Approached by a young entrepreneur, A Collective was assigned the task of redesigning an existing office and converting it into a co-working space. The challenge was to design fresh and vibrant yet flexible and cost effective elements which could be easily repeated and remodelled throughout the space.
The result was a modular shelving system composed of a neutral white, steel grid serving as a support structure for plywood modules. The modular boxes inserted into the frame accommodate a series of functions ranging from lockable storage units, to open shelving, to light boxes, stools and planters. The boxes are simply held in place by the frame and can easily be shifted and moved around to accommodate the occupants’ requirements. The unit is easily adaptable to varying heights and lengths to fit within the various spaces.
The bespoke steel mesh partitions subdividing the individual desks serve a secondary element of customisation, inviting the users to personalise their desk space and create a unique working environment.
