Situated on the upper ridge of Santa Maria Estate this villa was designed to wrap around a number of existing trees allowing for a series of garden pockets to infiltrate the sleeping quarters. The spiralling curve based on the golden ratio allows the living spaces to overlook a north facing terrace which exploits the outlook onto L-Ahrax tal-Mellieha. The natural flow of the curve comes to life like a sun dial as the shadows traverse across the space. The building has a practically solid south facing façade and a completely glazed northern face serving as a climate sensitive intervention.
